Importance Of Family

Importance Of Family

Family to me is people in a group that is together at all times and will never treat you differently. Family is really important to me because people in my family have gone through rough times. For example, when my sister didn’t feel good we got her the help she needed to feel better. Everyone in a family we be there for you no matter what. In “ A Tree Grows In Brooklyn” they talk a lot about family , one of the things that Francie said about family that was important was “My brother is next. His arm is just as dirty as mine so don’t be surprised “. And you don’t have to tell him. You told me. This a really important event in the book because even though Francie is poor doesn’t mean she couldn’t understand what the doctors were saying and calling them dirty, even though the nurse knew how they felt. When Francie said this it showed that they were a great family because she stuck up for her little brother after she was just made fun of. Another quote from the novel is when the author stated “ Katie would make [Neeley] into the kind of man Johnny should have been “. This relates to family because even though Johnny was not the best role model he tried. Katie wanted Neeley to be what Johnny should have been or better which shows signs of a good family because they care for one another.

Now onto “Stone Soup”. Stone Soup was a novel all about the different types of families, and it said that there were no perfect families. Barbara Kingsolver wrote “To judge a family's value by its tidy symmetry is to purchase a book for its cover “ This is really important to a family because you can’t judge a family by there looks just like you can’t judge a book by its cover. A family is a lot more than just how they look. The last quote from Stone Soup that I found was when Barbara Kingsolver said “ I knit my days around my daughter’s survival and happiness ”. This Is a great example of Barbara Kingsolver explaining what family is, because all she cares about is keeping her daughter alive and happy which is crucial to a great family. “ A Tree Grows In Brooklyn “ and “ Stone Soup “ both show great examples on what having a good family is compared to having a bad family is. A great family would do anything while a not so good family wouldn’t care as much. Lastly, a family a great family will be welcome to change, everybody connects with each other, and has a bond that will never be broken. To me family is the most important thing in life.
